This is a stunning black velvet evening dress from the Hardy Amies Boutique from late 1950. A truly classic piece waiting to be cherished.
The round neckline is accentuated by a v split to the front with slightly cutaway underarms. The waist is accentuated by a wide black satin band with knotted piping, top and bottom, black beads cascade from the ends of the piping. The A line is set off by two small pleats at the waist. The velvet fabric has a luxurious feel and the dress is fully lined.
It has been purchased from a collection of gowns from the Oxburgh Hall Estate, a stately home in Norfolk built in 1482, now owned by the National Trust, however, the family still reside there today.
